My trip to Chiloé
My name is Javier Sandoval and I want to share with you my great experience of visiting Chiloé, a beautiful archipelago in southern Chile, with my scout group in February 2016. Chiloé is a place full of magic, culture, and nature, where you can enjoy the scenery, the food, and the people.
We spent two weeks exploring different islands, such as Quinchao, Lemuy, and Chelín, where we saw the famous wooden churches that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. We also visited the national park of Chiloé, where we hiked through the rainforest and saw penguins, dolphins, and sea lions. We learned about the myths and legends of Chiloé, such as the Caleuche, a ghost ship that roams the seas at night, and the Trauco, a forest spirit that seduces women.
One of the highlights of our trip was the curanto, a traditional dish of Chiloé that consists of seafood, meat, potatoes, and vegetables cooked in a hole in the ground covered with leaves. It was delicious and filling, and we ate it with a local drink called muday, made from fermented wheat.
I had a wonderful time in Chiloé with my scout group, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to discover a unique and enchanting place in Chile.
