My Dream Job
My name is Javier Sandoval and I have a passion for music. Ever since I was a child, I loved listening to different genres and styles of music, from classical to rock, from pop to jazz. I always wondered how the composers could create such beautiful and expressive melodies, harmonies, and rhythms. That's why my dream job is to be a musical composer.
A musical composer is someone who writes and arranges original music for various purposes, such as films, games, advertisements, or concerts. A composer needs to have a good knowledge of music theory, which is the study of how music works and how it can be manipulated. Music theory helps composers to understand the structure, form, and function of music, as well as the relationships between notes, chords, scales, and modes. Music theory also helps composers to develop their own musical style and creativity.
To be a successful composer, one also needs to have some practical skills, such as playing an instrument, using music software, and recording and editing audio. A composer should be able to communicate effectively with other musicians, producers, and clients, and be able to work under deadlines and pressure. A composer should also be open to feedback and criticism, and be willing to learn from others and improve their craft.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for musical composers and arrangers was $51,670 in 2020. However, the salary can vary depending on the industry, experience, and reputation of the composer. Some composers can earn much more than the average, while others may struggle to make a living from their music.
I am currently studying music theory and composition at the University of Chile, where I have learned a lot from my professors and peers. I have also participated in some projects and competitions, where I have showcased my musical skills and received valuable feedback. I hope to graduate soon and pursue my dream of becoming a professional composer. I believe that music is a powerful and universal language that can touch people's hearts and minds, and I want to share my musical vision with the world.
